A Trip to The Mummers Museum

Mummers Museum

Today I went on a class trip with my Rockstar and her kindergarten class to the Mummer’s Museum.  It was a lot of fun.  I haven’t been to the Mummer’s Museum in a few years so to go back was a real treat.  The school is located pretty close to the museum so the kindergarten class and their chaperones walked.

Mummers VideoIt was such a lovely warm day too, especially for December.  We got to the Museum in no time and was greeted by a lovely Museum Hostess that gave us a tour of the museum as well as showed us some videos of Mummer’s of the past. The video took a bit longer than expected and of course being five years old they were up and jumping ready to move on to the next part of the tour.  (You should of seen all the blurry shots of the kids I had!)

After the tour the kids got a chance to dress up like an actual Mummer!  They were extatic!  You should of seen their faces light up when asked “Who wants to dress up like a Mummer”  it was like asking “Who wants Candy!”  😀  Adorable!!  Each child took turns trying on different types of costumes as well as held umbrellas and even did the Mummer’s Strut!   Fun Fun Fun!!

Mummer For a Day!

The kids loved dressing up as Mummers as well as seeing the actual costumes.  At the end of the tour the children had a surprise, they each got a chance to create their very own Mummer Mask!

Craft Time

They were soooo excited!  Each child had a mask, glitter, glue, crayons and coloring pencils.  They all got straight to work decorating their mask.  Of course my Rockstar had to have specific colors on her mask and made sure she used all of her feathers.

Afterwards, the kids all got together and played on the stage and danced with their classmates while us parents took pictures of all the organized chaos that was happening.  My girl had fun and it was great watching all the kids get along.  By lunch time it was back to school and of course my girl had to try to negotiate her way back home.  It broke my heart that I couldn’t bring her back with me but then what kind of example would that be?  She’s a smart girl and although she teared up when I left, her tears dried up instantly when she found her best Friend and off they went to play with their toys.  All in all it was a great time and I can’t wait for her next adventure.~

  1. Your Rockstar looks awesome! Grandma loves the Mummers and I’m sure she is going to love the picture of her beautiful grandaughter dressed up as a Mummer. I can’t believe it, she did the strut!

    • Yeah, she had a lot of fun at the museum, now Adri wants to go! All the kiddies were strutting and playing with the umbrellas, too cute! 😀 LOL! I’ll be posting the rest of her pics on soon!
