What’s For Dinner?!

A few days ago I had a hankering for some fried chicken.  I just had to have it!!  So i went into my refrigerator and whipped out my chicken breast.  After washing it (very important) I made my own flour concoction by added some various spices I had in my cupboards.  With my chicken I decided to have some french fries!   Mmmmm…. french fries!!  I even made some instant mac n cheese for the kiddies to enjoy as well!  All in all it was pretty good and just what I needed!  I usually make healthier foods for us but every once in a while I just gotta have something fried and that hit the spot!  Here are some pics of my dinner efforts! ENJOY!!:

The kids and my hubby were very happy with their meals and I inspired my hubby to make some delicious Ric Pudding.

Potty Training Time

My little fashionista is ready to be a big girl and has shown me all the signs of wanting to use the potty.   So my hubby and I went shopping over the weekend and got a few things we needed and at the same time we got her a cut little pink potty for her to use like a big girl!

The next day I showed her her new potty and she was delighted.  She kept saying “PeePee, Mommy” and showed her new potty to her sisters.  She was dancing and even pulled down her pants and diapers and gave her potty a try.  She is so excited and has been doing great!  Before you know it she’ll be in big girl underwear!!  Oh how time flies!~

Holiday Plans

October was a blur!  It feels like all we did was have my Rockstars’ birthday party, which was fun and then poof , it’s Halloween!

The girls and I had planned on making our halloween costumes this year, but with us all getting the flu (yes and at the same time!) we lost precious time {sigh}.  Well since making our costumes was not an option this year, the girls agreed to buy their costumes.  So off we went to get each one thier choice in costume fun.  My eldest chose to be a vampire/pirate which is totally her with “glamour” and “mysteriousness”, my Rockstar decided to be a Power Ranger because she’s tough and fast (awwww) and then there was my Fashionista who chose to dress up as Snow White.  Each girl looked awesome!  We had tons of fun over Halloween Weekend.

First we awoke to a spooky breakfast of monkey brains (cereal) and zombie guts (Orange Juice), aftwerwards we all picked a movie to watch.  We also told spooky stories (which for my Rockstar was too spooky).  Poor thing, I should of known she’d react the way she did.  If you know her then you know how she gets!  We even had our fashionista hugging her sisters for dear life (and to think the stories weren’t even scary)! Afterwards, we had a lovely lunch somewhere in the mix of stories and movie watching.  Then we played a bit of Monster vs. Aliens.  We decided to get ourselves in gear after playing on the Wii for a bit.  My hubby’s cousin came by for a quick visit with her 3 boys and we had some fun taking pictures and chatting.

At this point we got the girls ready and off we went to get some candy!  Once we were done with Trick or Treating we were off to visit the rest of the family over at my sister n law’s home.  She offered to make dinner for us and even made some cupcakes that were really cute!  On our way there my sister wanted to see my 3 girls so we made a quick stop.  It was nice to see her even though it was only for 10 minutes or so, luckily she lives a few minutes away from AllSorts so we just  zipped over.

All in all we had fun!~

Halloween Plans

1Every year for Halloween my hubby and I plan a few fun activities for the kids to enjoy.  One of the things we do is watch movies.  Every year we watch Scary Godmother, Nightmare before Christmas, It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Wallace & Grommit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Edward Scissorhands and we added to our growing list of movies to include Monsters vs. Aliens.  We haven’t seen it yet but it’s in our que for future watchings (saturday).  We even go trick or treaking,  tell spooky stories and play board games and just add a halloween twist to everything.

It’s a lot of fun, the girls like it and we even get into it.  When the kids are off to bed, my husband and I watch the really scary stuff and just curl up on the couch with left over candies, chips and drinks and enjoy the Horror Fest.  FUN!

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!~

Webkinz Birthday Party

alyssainvitation1

This month is my lovely Little Rockstar’s birthday.  She wanted a fun Webkinz themed birthday party for her celebration.  I thought it was such a fun and unique thing to do!  So my hubby and I got started on the planning of her Party.  First thing we did was create an invitation that resembled the log in window for Webkinz.  It was a bit tricky for me but I think it came out pretty close the original log in, I just tweeked it here and there for a more customized look.

Next we designed the Wheel of Wow, although the original Wheel of Wow has 10 slots for prizes our wheel only had 8 which was fine because it was just the right size and we didn’t want to go overboard.

WheelofWowThe kids really loved the wheel of wow and had tons of fun playing over and over again.  I think some of the adults had fun too, we had a few people request to play again, it really was soo much fun!  We also created a plinko game.  Although it’s not an actual Webkinz online game, I thought it would be tons of fun to add a game we haven’t played.  It was a hit!

plinkogameplinkochipsWe used maze games as plinko chips!  It worked perfectly and the kids thought it was cool! A third game we created was Webkinz Bingo.  We found some webkinz clip art on google and just printed them on cardstock paper.  Perfect!

kinzbingoWe even played Dr. Quack’s Assistant.  Which is pretty much: Pin the Tail on the Donkey, we just used a Sick Kitty Clipart we found online and drew BooBoo’s on it’s paw.  Again another fun game that was a hit!

drquackasstFor each game we used Kinz cash that the kids (and some adults) would use to redeem their prizes at the end of the party.  My husband created the kinz cash and printed them on cardstock paper.  It looked really good and the kids loved buying prizes for their furry freinds.

kinzcashWe made the kinz cash using 1’s, 5’s, 10’s, 20’s and 50 dollar bills.  When the kids played the Wheel of Wow or Plinko they would receive the amount shown.  We even made gak and goop!  So if they received either one they were in for a surprise!  One of my nephews received gak and went pale thinking it was a horrible muddy/dirt cup.  He did not want to eat it!  Ha ha ha until I explained what it was (pudding and oreos for gak and yogurt with vanilla wafer for goop!) then he was all smiles. :D  For Dr. Quack’s Assistant the person closest to the BooBoo received 50 kinz cash all others received 5 kinz cash.  Lastly for Webkinz Bingo, whom ever shouted bingo received kinz cash.  If they didn’t win, we gave them 5 kinz cash in small bills so they felt good receiving something.  They were so happy.  When we were done with the games, we then opened up the “W Shop” and allowed each customer to purchase any goody they wanted for their furry friends.  It was a great time and it also taught the kids some math at the same time.  Who knew!

Some of the items the kid’s could purchase were: a kinz bedroom (which were actually picture boxes we got on sale at A.C. Moore.  The knick knacks inside the box were assorted mini playing cards, stickers, tattoos, clackers, finger puppets, etc that we bought from our local party store at the clearance/dollar bins.  We even added some candy and a scraps of fabric (left over blue fleece I had saved) as blankets for their little fury friends.
Afterwards we all gathered to wish my Rockstar a Happy Birthday!  My sisters in law worked together to create this awesome Webkinz Cake!  It was sooo Yummy, I’m not big on eating cake, but it was so good I ate another piece the next day!  Great job ladies!! :D  It was a wonderful time spent with family!~

Rising Star

Today I’d like to talk to you about a family friend.

VickiShe is a very talented young lady that has been in several TV shows as well as has had small movie roles.  I thought to mention her because I think she’s a very talented person.  My husband and  in laws have known her since they were children.  She comes from a very nice family and I have met her on several occasions. A few days ago my hubby and I were watching tv: “Army Wives”.  We usually don’t watch this show, but we made an exception because our friend Vicki was gonna appear on the show.  I thought she did a wonderful job.  She played a former drug addict that was trying to keep clean.  I thought she played a very convincing part and personally deserved more screen time.

Aside from appearing in Army Wives, Vicki was also in the TV show Bedford Diaries.  It was a series that lasted almost a full season but was yanked from the airways because the network (the WB) was bought out from another Network(the CW) and they decided that the show was not for them.  Since then I have heard from Vicki’s mother that she has had several small roles in TV and in films.  Most recent film was with Angelina Jolie, I don’t remember what part she had but that didn’t matter.  I just thought it was a wonderful opportunity for her to even be in a movie.  It is very hard for a female, especially a Hispanic female to land any “good” roles.  Hopefully soon you will hear more wonderful things from Vicki and she will be a well know actress in the future.  To know more about Vicki and what she’s done with her career visit IMDB, they have most of shows/movies listed. ~

Project 1: Basement

It’s the second day of  October and I have been in my basement busily re-arranging and cleaning.  One reason is to finally have the space I need to craft and loose myself in my work.  The other is that I have too many things.  So much that we didn’t even know we had half the stuff.  Crazy!

So I started looking through the boxes upon boxes of stuff in my basement and have about half of my dining room filled with very nice things I don’t need.  This weekend my hubby will be off to St. Vincent De Paul’s and donating all of it.  I find that if we haven’t used it in over a year, we don’t need it.  Most of the things that were in our basement are 5 years old!  We kept it for many different reasons but in the end I realized we don’t need it!

Mind you with my dining room partially filled with goodies, I’m still crazy enough to think! Since I’m here I should look through all the boxes and organized it perfectly as well as re-label everything!  That way when I need it, i know where to get it!  Sadly because of this, my little chicas have to wait a few days (weeks) before Mommie will be done!  It’s all good though, I have a deadline in which I have to be finished.  My little Rockstar is turning 6 this month and we’re celebrating her birthday so I know I only have a short time in which to finish.~

Craft Room

seamstress

Lately I’ve been very busy with my crafts.  You can either find me tinkering with my cricut, sewing, creating new diaper cakes or shopping for supplies.  I love what I do.  I also love to create.  I love all aspects of creating, from sewing to scrap booking and everything in between.  At first I started with just a few things here and there.  I always keep my projects a secret.  Too shy to show my work and worried that it’s not perfect in every way.  One day I decided to throw caution to the wind and just craft away.  Since then, I have grown from having a little canvas tote bag with crafts to a box of crafts to half of a wall of crafts.

Like I said before I love what I do.  I love to create.  I have been thinking of converting half of my basement as my craft/work room and the other half the children’s play room.  So while the kiddies are playing Mommie can play too.  I think that will be next on my ever growing list of projects.  I will design a lovely fun BRIGHT craft room! ;)~

Candyland Birthday Party (Pt1)

A few weeks ago was my baby’s second birthday.  I had planned to have a wonderful and fun Candyland themed Birthday for my fashionita and her 2 sisters.  Sadly I had to push my fiesta back because I became ill.  Luckily my wonderful hubby and mother in law were there and helped BIG Time in caring for me and my girls!

Although I wasn’t fully myself and was feeling a bit of discomfort I really wanted to celebrate my baby’s big day.  Prior to becoming sick I was working with my girls (and hubby) on decorations for the party and did manage to take a few snap shots of them!

As I mentioned on my previous post, I wanted to challenge myself with the Birthday Party Decorations, gifts, favors and games.  One of the first projects I worked on was the invitation itself.  My hubby came up with this great idea of wrapping oversized Nestle Crunch Bars with the invitation and delivering them to our friends and families.  He found the candy bars at our local CVS pharmacy on sale and bought a handful of them.    I made the invitations on the PC and typed up the information and used the Candyland Clip Art I found online as the background.  I don’t remember where I found the clipart (if I did I’d give you your props) I did however remember doing a “candlyand” search on google.  Here is the finished invitation:

Candyland InvitationI had to trim the ends of the paper but the top and bottom I left alone which were a perfect fit for the candy bars. :D  I just wrapped them and used double sided tape on the back for a clean look.

Next we worked on the decorations.  We looked through our stash of party stuff we had accumulated over time and found some cute colorful decorations.  One of the tricks we did was use toilet paper rolls and decorate them to look like candies.  We used gift wrap paper and tissue papers as the candy wrap and tied the ends with curling ribbon (from my christmas stash).

At this point I became a bit too ill and couldn’t finish any favors, decorations and games, but luckily I had help from my wonderful hubby, and kids.  They craftily created some really cute “candies” that were made out of paper plates, turned in to face each other.  They borrowed my marker stash and designed some really nice mint candies and lollipops.

IMG_3713IMG_3855The lollipops were finished with dowel rods from the craft store and the candies were wrapped in clear shrink-wrap and curling ribbon.  The base for the lollipops is a cardboard box that I had lying around from the kids and wrapped in red tissue paper (again from my christmas stash).

Check back later for more idea for Candyland Birthday Party~
